Pre-Mixing Infinitive

May 14,  2025

Saturday evening, we are meeting to go through every track we've recorded, which is over 400 tracks now, and one by one make decisions about what to include and what not to include. Then we'll adjust settings for each track and decide about panning position, add any processing, and then get it packaged up to send for mixing. To me, it sounds like this would take 12 hours, but the engineer who has helped us through all the recording is confident it can be done in one night!

It happens to be the day we are moving too, so it should be quite the day!

After moving yesterday and spending most of the day getting set back up again, everything is ready to go to do the final track editing and preparing files for mixing.

This involves @Sohyun and I making decisions about which tracks to keep for the final mixing and which were interesting ideas but not to use, and it involves getting the timing exactly aligned, making decisions about initial volume levels, panning, EQ, and processing effects. We'll give it our best shot and produce a final demo to send as a guide for mixing, along with mixing notes, and then the process of the final mixing will begin.

We are honored to be working with a Grammy-winning mixing engineer who specializes in Dolby Atmos, so exciting times are ahead!

We've ended up with so many tracks, so the decision making and refinement process is really beginning now!
